19/07: HIke – Randonnée: détails

Prochaine Randonnée: dimanche, le 19 juillet: DEUX RANDOS en UN!
Le matin: Hericy a St-Mammes (8 km);
et – ou
L’apres-midi: St- Mammes a Nemours (16 km):
“ENTRE LA FRANCE ET LE CHAMPAGNE: LE LONG DU LOING, NI LONG, NI LOIN”
AU PROGRAMME: villes et villages du Moyen-Age, et souvenirs de Sisley

Pour le matin: Arrivez a la Gare de Lyon avant 8:45 pour acheter votre billet pour HERICY et chercher le quai pour le train, qui est a destination de 
Montargis et qui part a 9:05. Dix minutes avant le départ du train, arrivez au debut du quai pour rencontrer le groupe. Changement de train a Melun, 
et on arrive a Hericy qu’on quitte immediatement a pied pour gagner le Bois de Valence, et en traversant le Seine on arrivera au petit port medieval de 
St-Mammes vers 12:30. Ici vous avez le choix entre le pique-nique le long du canal du Loing, un dejeuner dans un petit restau simple mais bon, en 
face du Canal, “L’Auberge du Soleil d’Or”, ou un retour immédiat vers Paris (trains toutes les heures); N.B: pour le dejeuner au restau, merci de me 
confirmer votre résa: brianspence@wanadoo.fr). A 14 heures la rando se poursuit en direction de Moret-sur-Loing et Nemours (voir plus bas).

POUR LES LEVE-TARD: LA RANDO EN APRES-MIDI: La, deux options aussi:
1).Nous joindre au restaurant “L’Auberge du Soleil d’Or” a St-Mammes (156-158 Rue Grande): A la Gare de Lyon prenez le train de 11:35 (pour 
manger avec nous) ou 12:35 jusqu’a St-Mammes, pour arriver au restau a 14 heures au plus tard;
ou..
2). Nous joindre a la ville de Moret-sur-Loing: prenez le train direct de la Gare de Lyon a 13h05 et marchez de la gare de Moret jusqu’a la porte de 
Bourgogne, pres du pont entre Moret et St-Mammes ou le groupe du matin vous retrouvera a 14h15. 

La Rando de Moret a Nemours: En suivant les pas du peintre Impressioniste Alfred Sisley nous verrons (de l’exterieur seulement, hélas!) les monuments 
de Moret: ses remparts, son donjon, l’Eglise Notre Dame, la Maison Francois Premier et la maison de Sisley avant de reprendre le chemin pour 
Nemours. Quatorze kilometres de foret, riviere, plaine et bois nous meneront vers 19 heures a cette ville médiévale tres pittoresque. Vous flanerez 
dans la ville tant que vous voudrez parce qu’il y aura un train pour Paris toutes les heures de 19h40 jusqu’a 23h40. 

Vous avez tout suivi jusqu’ici? Pas mal… Parce que nous avons une autre proposition pour ceux qui preferaient ne pas marcher en apres-midi: a 15 
heures, une croisiere de trois heures sur la Seine, de St-Mammes (5, Quai du Loing) a Samois-sur-Seine (arret de 20 minutes) en passant par les 
écluses de Champagne-sur-Seine, et retour a St-Mammes vers 18 heures. Pour réserver: 01 64 23 16 24. (…Mais on prefere quand meme que vous 
veniez marcher avec nous!!)

Comme d’habitude, n’oubliez pas: d’apporter de quoi vous proteger du soleil et de la pluie, une bouteille de l’eau et des vivres adéquats, et de bonnes 
chaussures de marche.

JULY HIKE(S!): Sunday, July 19
TWO Hikes in ONE: Morning hike (8 kilometres), or Afternoon hike (16 Kms)
or BOTH (24 kilometres)
Between “France” and Champagne: along the Loing from Hericy to Nemours:
Rustic Charm, Three medieval towns, (St-Mammes, Moret and Nemours), Impressionist memories (Sisley & Co.) and Lunch at St-Mammes: 

For THE MORNING HIKE: (see below for afternoon hike details): Get to the Gare de Lyon around 8:45 (It’s a big and confusing station!): buy a ticket for 
Hericy, then find the train leaving for Montargis at 9:05. Meet the group at the beginning of the platform for this train. The Montargis train lets us off 
at Melun; 5 minutes later we connect to the train for Hericy, where we arrive in about 20 minutes. Detraining, we head straight off into the country, 
through the Bois de Valence, and across the Seine to arrive at the picturesque riverside town of St-Mammes by 12:30 (eight kms.). This 11th century 
port town boasts a parish church of the same period, a picturesque poplar-lined towpath along the Loing Canal, and a restaurant where some of us 
may want to forego the usual al fresco picnic for a generous Sunday feast at an unbeatable price, at the Auberge du Soleil d’Or (N.B: If you would like 
to reserve your lunch here, I recommend you email me in advance, brianspence@wanadoo.fr). Picnickers will have ample places to enjoy their lunch 
overlooking the canal. 

At this point hikers have 3 options: 1). Continue on the afternoon hike to Nemours (see below); 2), Head back to Paris (trains every hour from St-
Mammes or Moret); or 3). At 3 pm, take the 3-hour boat ride along the Seine from the Quai du Loing at St-Mammes, going through one lock to the 
pretty town of Samois-sur-Seine where the boat stops for 20 minutes, before heading back to St-Mammes: reservations: 01 64 23 16 24.

At 2: 00 we resume the walk after lunch, in the steps of that great English Impressionist painter Alfred Sisley, crossing from St-Mammes in 
Medieval Champagne to “France” at the bridge over the Loing, past the medieval fortifications and ramparts of Moret-sur-Loing. 

TO JOIN THE AFTERNOON HIKE: TWO OPTIONS:

Either…
1). Join us at St-Mammes by taking the direct train from Gare de Lyons leaving at 11:35 (if you wish to lunch with us) or the one at 12:35, and meet 
us at the Auberge du Lion d’Or (156-158 Rue Grande), which we will leave at 2:00 pm; or …
2). Join us in Moret by taking the 1:05 pm direct train from Gare de Lyon, meeting us no later than 2:15pm near the bridge over the Loing River, at 
the “Porte de Bretagne”.

A half-hour stroll through this town (the Church of Notre-Dame, a Pilgrim’s hospice, the Maison Francois Premier, a medieval fortress, Sisley’s 
home, and more), and then 16 kilometres over trails, fields and forests to bring us to Nemours around 7 pm. As there are Paris trains from Nemours 
every hour (18:40, 19:40, etc.), hikers will be able to linger in this medieval town as long as they wish.

As usual don’t forget: rain and sun protection, enough food and water, good hiking shoes,
